About the product

The details behind the taste

Uogashi Sencha is a Japanese green tea with a golden hue, fresh green aroma, distinct umami, and a clean, slightly astringent finish. It is suitable both as a first step into Japanese tea and as a recurring everyday cup when you want a clear cup with distinct character.

The leaves are steamed immediately after harvest and carefully rolled into their thin, needle-like shape. This sencha is grown in Japan in full sunlight, without shading, which results in a lighter golden cup, lively aroma, and more balanced astringency than a shade-grown tea.

Brew Uogashi Sencha with 4-5 grams of leaves, approximately 80°C water, and a steeping time of 30-40 seconds. If the tea tastes bitter, it is usually the water or the time that needs adjustment: lower the temperature slightly, shorten the brewing time, and let the leaves show their softer green side.

Drink it with rice dishes, mild fish, vegetables, small sweet treats, or as a peaceful break when you want a Japanese green tea that feels fresh, clean, and easy to return to.

Our sencha

Chosen to be an obvious return.

When we choose something for our range, it has to feel natural to live with. This tea has that kind of presence: nuanced enough to feel special, straightforward enough to actually be used.

That's why Sencha belongs at Nekko Kitchen. Not as just another green tea, but as the kind of product that makes a small pantry feel more curated than simply stocked.

When it fits

For everyday use, not for display.

Sencha works particularly well when you want a short moment to feel more distinct and conscious. Not necessarily slow, just clearer.

  • As a calmer alternative to your morning coffee.
  • As an afternoon break that clears your head without feeling heavy.
  • As an easy way to give your workday or home kitchen a clearer rhythm.

Nekko Kitchen

Chosen with direction.

This sencha is selected for the kind of clarity you want to return to often: green, calm, and easy to live with. It makes the range more useful, not simply broader.

So we drink it

A habit rather than a project.

These aren't rules, just simple ways to make tea a more present part of everyday life.

Drink it warm in a smaller cup when you want to keep the flavor clear and focused.

Serve it with something light and salty rather than sweet, to give the green notes more room.

Start with a slightly shorter infusion time and adjust from there if you want more body.

Storage

Rumstemperatur.
